Dress up as Boys and Girls

This photo is from November 2009. It’s one of my favourite photos. It was taken on my last day of class, senior year. It was such a nice and sad day too. We were getting ready to start second period and in a very spontaneous act we decided to switch clothes between us. Of course it wouldn’t be funny if girls kept using girl’s uniforms, so to make it more interesting we decided that the boys would wear the girl’s skirts and the girls would wear pants.

It turned out to be so much fun. We snap a few pictures of most of the class in wrong uniforms. The boys acted like girls and all the girls were acting manly jaja.

Afterwards we decided to take a picture of the boys – they still wore skirt— looking to the horizon from the second floor while the girls – still dressed as boys– looked under their skirt. It was so hilarious everyone was laughing and enjoying our last day together.

In the photo appear a few of my classmates the guys Juan Carlos, Christian, Daniel, Francisco, Miguel, Juan, Ricardo and Felipe. And the girls: Milenka, Tabata, Betzabe, Gabriela, Tamara, Paula, and myself.

It was so much fun I’ll always remember that day.

Maitencillo, so close to the ocean!

A town I know very well is Maitencillo.

It's a small town. It is a destination for summer. I have visited it every year since I was 5. It’s located in the V region, approximately 70 kilometres north of Viña del Mar. It belongs to the commune of Puchuncavi. It has one of the most visited beaches of the whole country.   

There is a lot to see. Mostly is full of tourist between December and February, but in the other months the place is beautiful. Especially in the winter months — well at least that’s what I think. It is not a big town, but compared with the town next to it (La Laguna) it’s bigger. The whole town revolves around the main road which is called “Avenida del Mar”.

The architecture is very diverse. The houses don’t have any special influence, mostly they are summer houses. With wide windows and made of light materials. Of course there is always the house that is different from the rest and has its own style.

The people is very nice, they are very welcoming with the tourists and the people who lives there. Of course you might think that the people are nice because the tourists are the ones who provide the money but that’s not just it. Sure the money has a lot to do with it but the people are nice. Which in Santiago is not so common and that’s why most of the people found strange that other person can be nice without a reason.

The main economic activity is tourism. The people who travel all the way from different part of the world are the ones who boost the economy especially in summertime. The activities they people can do goes from a walk in the cliffs – they are over a 100 meters high also they are adorned with rocky outcrops— where is possible to found sea fossils, like molluscs and whale bones. Also another activity that boosts economy is Surf. People from all ages come to practise because of the quality of the waves. It also has many restaurants; the majority of them sell sea food, which is because the town is 100 meters from the shore. The fishing is one of the most important activities; Maitencillo has a few beaches that are dedicated only to fishing.

What I like the most about Maitencillo is the sea. I love the sea, the feel of the ocean on my toes it makes me so happy. But also I enjoy the serenity of the town itself; one might think that in summertime with the town so crowded it gets annoying but for me it isn’t at all, maybe it because I’m used to it. Also I like the wintertime in Maitencillo, even though the weather might not be nice I love when starts to rain and I’m in the beach. Of course the people are always nice and that is one of the things that make it so attractive to visit.

A Special Date

For me a special date is Christmas Eve, December 24th.

It's a special day for me because is one of the rare occasions my whole family is together. Most people celebrate Christmas Eve for the fun of open presents and even though in my family we do give each other gifts we also spend time together and that's the main reason for us to join and celebrate. 

We are a very enthusiastic family so we do a lot of activities. First we have dinner together - always at the same time, ten thirty on the dot. Then we wash the dishes and clean everything up. When the dining room is clean, and the clock marks ten minutes to twelve, the younger ones take our little cousin for a short walk and we return home past twelve so she can open her presents. Of course we also open our own presents and after we thank each other and put our new things away that's when the party starts. We meet with the rest of my family, uncles and aunts, my godparents, nephews and nieces and have a great time. It's like a preview of New Years Eve, because we dance a lot until very late night, sometimes we don't even go to bed. And always there is one person the next day with a hell of a hangover, but in the end is worth it because we get tyo spend time together as a family and make our bonds stronger.

My name is Ivonne. I am twenty years old. Currently I am studying Geography in University of Chile. I have a normal life, I live with my family (my parents, my two sisters, my brother and my grandma). I don't have any pets but when I was younger I had two dogs.

I love to cook but I hate doing the dishes. I love music, and I like to sing (even though I'm terribly at it). I am very outgoing I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I am a book worm, I enjoy reading as much as I can. I love movies and I visit the cinema  very often.
